Label TextThis Rockingham ware crock came from the Brantford Stoneware Mfg. Co., which operated from 1894-1906. Dr. David Lowrey and his partners, John Hemphill and Henry Schuler, had purchased the business from William E. Weld, naming it the Brantford Stoneware Manufacturing Co. The factory employed 30 men who made Rockingham ware (which is pottery with a thick brown glaze), majolica style pottery (which is brightly coloured glazes), stove lining, and fire brick.
