Label TextGeorge Speake (1903-1981) was born in Birmingham, England. He was an artist and signwriter who settled in London, Ontario. In the 1920's he began working at The Signry Limited, a paint and sign shop that was renamed to C.E. Marley Limited. This tag is from an annual company picnic that was held for workers and their families. Activities for the day included a baseball game, various races, a watermelon eating contest, and a game of tug of war.
