Label TextPressed glass was first patented in 1825 by John P. Bakewell. It is formed by pressing molten glass into a mould with a plunger. It became an inexpensive way to mass-produce patterned glassware. This serving dish has a "Canadian" pattern, consisting of landscape and forest scenes within sections around the glass. The vast variety of patterns and colours available has made glassware popular with collectors.
