Label TextEnglishman Charles Wheatstone (1802-1875) invented concertinas, like the one you see here, in 1829. Sound is produced when air generated by the bellows causes a reed embedded in a frame to vibrate. The musician determines the notes by pressing the keys. The bellows, in part, are made of goatskin, linen, and wallpaper paste. They are also made of paper card.
