Label TextThis stoneware butter churn is from Glass Bros. and Company. Brothers William and Samuel Glass established the London Crockery Manufacturing Company (1886-1888), which became Glass Brothers Pottery in 1888. They manufactured salt-glaze stoneware as well as Rockingham and Bristol ware. The business, which folded after an 1897 fire, was so important to the community east of Highbury that it gave the area its name. People knew it as Pottersburg until it amalgamated with London in 1912.
