Label TextGordon Russell Elliot joined the RCAF with the hope of becoming a pilot, but his medical examination revealed that he was colour blind and therefore could not distinguish the various lights on the instrumentation panel. He switched to navigation but a crash-landing during training prompted him to transfer to the Dispatch Rider section of the army. He was on the train to Halifax when peace was declared.
