Label TextThis is a wringer. A person passed wet textiles between the rollers to remove water. It was quicker and easier than hand wringing. It was also more efficient, making wet laundry lighter. In 1861, the Canadian Agriculturist praised it for saving “labouring women a great deal of severe labor (sic).”
Thomas Hobbs founded his hardware company in 1876. A retailer and wholesaler, Hobbs sold and distributed a dizzying array of products including tools, dairying equipment, housewares, paints and stains, sporting gear, and much more. The company name appeared on many of the products he sold.
