Label TextArchibald Taylor and his family brought this large wooden chest to Canada from Argyllshire County, Scotland, in the spring of 1831. The chest was filled with sea biscuits and oatmeal, which enabled the family and fellow passengers to survive a thirteen-week voyage by sailing vessel. The Taylor family settled on Lot 14, concession 11 Yarmouth Township, now the Municipality of Central Elgin, in 1832.
