Label TextThe London Street Railway began operation with one line in 1875. Its launch began to change the way in which Londoners lived in the city. With public transit, more Londoners could live beyond walking distance from their places of work as well as from services and amenities. The introduction of the street railway and its evolution over the years, from horse-drawn to electrically powered trolleys, led to changes in infrastructure and support services as well. The Johnston Brothers operated a well-known bakery on the northwest corner of South and Wellington streets. One of the bakery’s most popular products was XXX Jersey Cream Bread.
