Label TextLondon artist, Don Vincent, used this Zeiss Ikon Field Camera. Vincent, (1932-1993), a graduate of Beal Art and husband of London artist Bernice Vincent (1934-2016), worked as a graphic designer at London Life. He was also well-known for his documentary photographs of the art scene in London, Ontario. About this camera, Vincent shared: "I was using 35mm equipment at the time and had long been interested in using a larger format for specific applications. In early 1960, Jack Reilly, a salesman for Superior Engravers of Hamilton told me there was an old Zeiss view camera with its own enlarger available. I recall it was found at the back of the shop when Superior moved locations. Jack sold me the equipment given here, plus an 11" x 14" tray, a washing siphon and some lacquered ferrotype tins for what I recall was $25.00. I used the equipment off and on for the next 4 or 5 years, but found it was limited in application for the kind of large format work I wanted to try. I gave it up and stored it away until the mid-1980s when I obtained a more recent 4" x 5" camera - a Kodak MasterView of about 1955 vintage. I adapted the enlarger for use with negative made with the Kodak and use it fairly successfully until late in 1990, when I obtained a more modern and effective Omega D-3 enlarger."
