From the outset, its members began to collect objects that illustrate aspects of London's early history. This collecting activity took off in the 1930s when Dr. Edwin Seaborn, Orlo Miller, and Fred Landon resurrected the society. Their collection reflects what they and fellow society members felt was important. It also illustrates what descendants of a number of founding families had kept and wished to see preserved so that their family histories would not be forgotten. The London and Middlesex Historical Society collection is the foundation of Museum London's artifact collection.
