Label TextThis telegram is a memento from the London Free Press Centennial banquet at which the Don Wright Chorus performed. Don Wright (1908-2006) came from a musical family and, along with his brothers, formed his first band, Wright Brothers’ Orchestra, performing together from 1922-1934. Wright taught at Sir Adam Beck Collegiate, and also resumed his position of director of the UWO Band. He was the Director of Music for all London public schools from 1940-1946. Wright gave up his teaching career in 1946, becoming the manager of CFPL Radio in London. He developed a staff orchestra and a choir which became known as the Don Wright Chorus. By 1966, Wright began to establish music education scholarships. He gave millions of dollars to university music programs, including at Western, which renamed its music faculty after him in 2002.
