Label TextThis window was once installed at the London Asylum for the Insane (1870-1902), later named London Psychiatric Hospital. The grounds had four buildings including a chapel and a horse stable. Acting superintendents Henry Landor (1870-1877) and Richard Maurice Bucke (1877-1902) lead initiatives for progressive treatments of mental illnesses, including occupational therapy, tending to the hospital grounds, and a focus on emotional and social interactions. After 144 years of treatments and property changes, the hospital ceased operations at the Highbury sites in 2014.
