Label TextThis is a stitching horse or harness mending bench. How did it work? The worker straddled the bench. With their right foot, they operated the iron mechanism that opened, closed, and locked the jaws at the front of the bench. These jaws held leather in place, leaving the worker's hands free for stitching.
