Label TextThe Thames River flows throughout Southwestern Ontario, winding through Woodstock, London, and Chatham. To the Anishnaabe peoples who have long lived along the lands the river crosses, it is known as Deshkaan-ziibi / Eshkani-ziibi, "Antler River", in the Ojibwe language. It was given its English name by Lieutenant Governor John Graves Simcoe, after the River Thames in England.
