Label TextMary Kyle O’Dowda worked for the Board of Education for the City of London. The Board office had been at Sir Adam Beck School. The Trustees met monthly and each time, they sat down to a full meal served on this dinnerware. The Board amalgamated with the Elgin County Board of Education and the Oxford County Board of Education on January 2, 1998, to become the Thames Valley District School Board. At that point, all of the dinnerware was going to be destroyed. O’Dowda saved it and ended up selling it for $5 a place setting. The money went to the United Way. She preserved a couple of the place settings herself.
