Label TextThe Brotherhood of Painters and Decorators was founded in the United States by John T. Elliott in 1887. The union expanded by the turn of the century, with local union chapters all over the United States and Canada. London's No. 97 chapter included the donor's father, William Lewis. Lewis came to Canada in 1870 and, with two of his brothers, established Lewis Bros., Painters & Decorators.
