Label TextLondon’s Carling Brewing and Malting Company produced ale, as well as porter, lager, and other products. Thomas Carling (1797-1880) established the family brewery in 1843. His sons, William (1821-1879) and John (1828-1911), later built the brewery into a flourishing business. E. P. Taylor purchased the Carling Brewery in 1930 as he created the Brewing Corporation of Canada. After the difficulties of the First World War (1914-1918), Prohibition, and the Great Depression, Carlings closed in London in 1936.
