Label TextShoes with straps buttoned across the vamp were a popular dress shoe in the Edwardian era (1901-1914). These shoes typically had a sturdy block heel or a curved Louis heel, named after King Louis XIV, with a flared base like these have. Around 50 years later, these strap pumps started being called "Mary Janes", a name we still use today.
