Label TextSundials have been used to tell time for thousands of years, although today they are more common as a garden decoration. Sundials were useful before standardized time zones as each city set their clocks using the sun. This created time difference between nearby towns. In fact, in the 1800s Hamilton and Toronto were 17 minutes apart!
