Label TextThese photographs depicts the aftermath of a Canadian National Railway (CNR) freight train derailment that occurred in August of 1932. The train had been crossing over Oxford Street when a mechanical break occurred. Tank cars carrying gasoline exploded and flaming fluid spread over the wreckage. The train set ablaze, with locals reporting seeing a fire ball from miles away. Luckily, the crew of 5 was unhurt. The crash site became an attraction, with people driving from outside the city to see the wreckage.
