Label TextHere you see a late 19th-century rag rug. Mary Green (1887-1979) shared memories about how it was made: “About 1897, in the cold weather when outside work was over, when home from school, we sewed strips of cloth which Mother had cut. When sewn together, we rolled them into balls...When we had the right amount, they were taken to Byron to be woven into a carpet by a weaver, to the size you wanted."
