Label TextThis poster, produced by the London Printing and Lithographing company, promotes George White & Sons Co. English immigrant George White (1834-1913) established a machine works in London in 1857. In the late 1870s, he began to produce steam engines, having visited the Canadian west where he saw a growing market for portable steam engines. By the 1880s, White had the capacity to meet the new demand for steam-driven threshing machines. He formed George White & Sons in 1890 and employed 90 men. With the railroad, he opened a branch in Manitoba. The London Printing and Lithographing Company had been established in 1890.
