Label TextAlva Clarke (1919-1992) received the diploma in 1937. She had completed a three-year course in home economics at Beal Tech. Herbert Benson Beal (1876-1956) had worked for the establishment of what was first called the London Technical School. He believed that students should receive both a technical and an academic education.
