Label TextThis wall hanging created by Miss Jane Brady won first prize at the Provincial Fair of 1859 when it was held in London. The "Women's Work" section of the 19th-century fall fair was a category that attracted a large number of entries. The Provincial Fair's regular rotation through London every four years gave local exhibitors the idea that an annual fall fair would be successful and so the Western Fair was inaugurated in 1868.
