Label TextLondon’s First Congregational Church commissioned this honour roll to memorialize the men from the congregation who enlisted. The names subsequently highlighted in white indicate men who died overseas. During the First World War (1914-1918) different groups and organizations commissioned honour rolls like this one to commemorate men who had enlisted and/or died in the service of their country. This was one of many ways community members and groups demonstrated their patriotism, encouraged enlistment, and honoured their war dead.
