Label TextTwenty-year-old Marie Jensen brought her grandmother’s cheese dish with her from Denmark. She immigrated to London with her husband, John, in 1893 with some 20 other Danish butchers and their families. Fellow Dane, John H. Ginge, had recruited them to work in east London’s new Canadian Packing Company plant. At this time, Denmark had a well-established pork packing industry. The London plant was part of a Canadian drive to become competitive in this profitable business.
