Label TextThis desk belonged to Colonel Tom Lawson, of the Royal Canadian Regiment (RCR). After serving overseas in the Second World War, Lawson returned to London, Ontario and joined the family printing firm, Lawson and Jones, becoming president in 1953. Continuing in his family's philanthropy efforts, he served as president of the Lawson Foundation until his death in 1991. He and his wife, Miggsie, also contributed a great deal to research efforts at St. Joseph's Hospital. In 1987, the hospital's research centre was renamed the Lawson Research Institute (LRI) which still operates today as part of London Health Sciences Centre.
