Label TextThis desk was first used by John Labatt II, son of founder, John Kinder Labatt in his office in London, Ontario. When brothers John Sackville Labatt and Hugh Frances Labatt began working for their father in the brewery in 1900, it is believed they shared this mahogany desk as young men. In the early 1940's, the desk was left behind when John Labatt Limited moved from the south side of Simcoe Street to a brand-new building on the north side. It sat in an empty building until it was eventually transferred to the Archives, which at the time was located in the basement of the brewery. John Labatt Limited moved again in 1970 into restored building on Ridout St. in London. One of these buildings was an original house with a late 1800's style decor. The Partners Desk was a perfect fit for this style of building and was moved into the office of then Chairman of the Board, John Henderson Moore. In 1992, John Labatt Limited moved once again into BCE Place in Toronto. The desk reappeared out of the archives in 1994 into the office of John Labatt Limited president, George Taylor. To make a suitable office for the president, the desk was sent out to be cleaned, white a matching credenza and table were created on the style of the Partners Desk. The desk remained at that at that location for seven years and had three more presidents use it - Hugo Powell, Don Kitchen, and Fred Jaques.
