Label TextLibrary patrons had to follow the rules and regulations outlined in this booklet or face losing borrowing privileges. Rules addressed appropriate behaviour in the library. For example, there was to be no audible conversation, lounging, sleeping, smoking, or spitting. The booklet outlined borrowing periods and it indicated that patrons who returned damaged books would be required to replace the volumes. Indicating the danger of contagious diseases before widespread immunization, the booklet also instructed patrons with library materials who became ill with a contagious disease to inform the librarian. The borrowed material had to go to the Medical Officer of Health.
