Label TextOn November 17, 1939, Mayor Allan J. Johnston used this trowel to lay the cornerstone of the Elsie Perrin Williams Memorial Library and Art Museum at 305 Queens Avenue. Williams had died in 1934, leaving a large bequest to the city, part of which was used to build the new library and museum. The accompanying program marks the occasion.
