Label TextLieutenant Governor of Ontario, the Honourable Ray Lawson, used this trowel on October 26, 1949, to lay the cornerstone of the new wing of the Children’s War Memorial Hospital. The original hospital commemorated those from the region who died during the First World War (1914-1918). The new wing honoured those who served during the Second World War (1939-1945).
