Label TextR.H. & J. Dowler Limited or Dowler's Ltd. clothing stores were operated by brothers Robert and Jonathan Dowler. Their first location opened in 1902 and operated at 489-491 Talbot Street, St. Thomas, Ontario. The Dowler brothers went on to open eight more store locations. This painted advertisement is one of many created by George Speake (1903-1981), an artist and signwriter who worked for C. E. Marley Limited. Speake worked for the company through its name changes, starting in the 1920's when it was called The Signry Limited and when it was renamed in 1927 to C.E. Marley Ltd.
