Label TextThis 1898 library catalogue lists the books available to scholars attending the Askin Street Methodist (today the Wesley-Knox United) Church Sabbath School. Before listing all the titles available to senior students, the booklet lists the rules. For example, any damaged or lost books were to be replaced by the borrower. Each borrower could only access one book at a time. And the lending period was three weeks. In addition to books offering moral and religious guidance, titles in the library included Anna Sewell's Black Beauty and Charles Dickens' Tale of Two Cities, among many others. This library was one among several in the city tied to local educational institutions.
