Label TextHatboxes from stores are usually made from cardboard, but more bespoke and robust boxes made of metal and leather were developed for travelling and extra protection. The boxes protect hats from dust and damage, both physical and environmental. This hatbox is made from leather and has clasps on the sides for ensuring the security of the contents. This hatbox was used to store a helmet belonging to Captain James Buchanan, member of the 26th Middlesex Battalion of Light Infantry.
