Label TextWhen brewers first used clear glass bottles, they discovered the sun’s ultraviolet rays spoiled the beer. Brown bottles filter damaging rays. Second World War (1939-1945) shortages of brown glass led brewers to use less effective green glass. Today, quality is still a priority but some breweries have created a brand associated with a particular colour. And bottles can be treated to provide UV protection.
