Label TextThese four nurses worked at Ontario Hospital London. For almost 145 years mental health care had been offered on grounds near Highbury Avenue. It began with the opening of the London Asylum for the Insane in 1870. The hospital was renamed Ontario Hospital London in 1932, then The London Psychiatric Hospital, and finally renamed as Regional Mental Health Care London in 2001. As with the name changes, medical understanding of mental illness continued to develop. New treatments, therapies, and programs were developed to assist with treating the mental health of community members.
