Label TextThis brass tea taster’s urn or spittoon came from Marshall Brothers and Company. It was a necessary tool for tea cupping or tasting, a process of evaluating the quality of loose leaf tea. If a taster was evaluating a lot of tea, it was more comfortable to spit each mouthful into the urn than to drink it all.
