Label TextThe R. (Red) S. (Star) News Co. produced this unique souvenir of London, Ontario. It features 35 tiny photographs on one long tape of paper. They are a combination of different postcards as well as photographs of the London area. Since the Red Star News Company produced and sold postcards of London, these images must have been from their pool of images. The Red Star News Co. first appeared in the 1909-1910 London City Directory but was gone sometime between 1931 and 1938. The company sold stationery and fancy goods and was under the management of N. E. Peel for the entirety of its existence. It shifted located from 8 to 10 and back to 8 Market Lane. The only other mention of the “Red Star News” is as a distributing firm for the Munsey Publishing Company. Since Peel was always listed as “manager” rather than “owner” it’s possible that he ran a branch office of that larger firm.
