Label TextHazel Shackleton wore this jersey when she played for the Silverwood Dairy softball team in the 1930s. In addition to promoting employee loyalty, companies in London and elsewhere used their teams as advertising. Local media covered the games. And when teams were successful in local and regional competitions, the positive qualities associated with the players, it was hoped, would be associated with the company’s products, too.
