Label TextEmily Mary Gunn's (1862-1953) artistic practice included painting, drawing, wood carving, and china-painting. She attended the Western School of Art and Design and Hellmuth College in London, Ontario before receiving training in the United States and France. Gunn regularly exhibited works at the Western Fair, winning numerous first prizes for her still life drawings. She had a studio at her home in London, on Dundas Street. Gunn taught art classes at her studio during the 1890s and advertised the lessons in the London Free Press and the London Advertiser. Throughout her artistic career, her works were shown in Toronto, Montreal, Chicago, and at the 1906 Paris Salon.
