Label TextThe 7th Queen's Own Hussars was a cavalry regiment in the British Army, first formed in 1689. They were deployed to Canada in May 1838 as part of the response to the Lower Canada Rebellion. Isaac Langford painted this self-portrait in 1849. In addition to being an artist and soldier, he was a preacher in the Western Ontario region, settling in Thorndale, Ontario.
