Label TextThis is an example of a pie cooling cabinet or a pie safe, as it is also known. During the 19th and early 20th century, storage systems did not always have adequate temperature regulation or security from pests. Instead of keeping pies out in the open to cool, they would be placed in cabinets such as this to protect them from mice and bugs, allowing them to stay fresh.
