Label TextThis table has two large pullout bins to store flour as well as two smaller drawers to hold utensils. The table’s deep wooden aprons indicate that it was purely a work surface. It would be difficult to draw a chair up to sit comfortably around it to eat a meal. It would have been an important kitchen tool in the days before built-in cabinetry and countertops. This revolution in kitchen design was introduced in the early 20th century. The built in kitchen was a product of efficiency studies, smaller kitchen spaces, and the increased use of standardized appliances.
