Label TextThis circa 1870 blanket is home-grown. Archibald MacPherson, a farmer with property on Lot 10, Westminster Township, raised the sheep that provided the wool. The wool had to be carded. This process opened the fibres, cleaned them, and prepared them for spinning on a spinning wheel. A weaver next wove the yarn into fabric. Often, two panels needed to be stitched together to get a proper sized blanket.
