Label TextThis London Lacrosse Club banner notes that the club was formed in 1872. This was only five years after the formation of the National Lacrosse Association of Canada, the first governing body of sport in the country. Lacrosse had a long history in Canada. At first a game or ritual enjoyed by Canada’s Indigenous peoples, it became popular among newcomers, too. In 1994, the sport was named Canada’s national summer game.
