Label TextThis ribbon belonged to Londoner Frederick Robins, a member of London’s Lodge No. 216 of the International Order of Good Templars. A part of the Independent Order of Good Templars founded in the United States in 1852, it worked to prohibit the manufacture, sale, and consumption of alcohol. From the mid-19th century on, temperance organizations across Canada argued that alcohol was the root of many social evils.
