The union expanded by the turn of the century, with local union chapters all over the United States and Canada. London's Brotherhood of Painters, Decorators & Paper Hangers, Union No. 97, pose as a group in this photograph. The men are dressed in their uniforms and wearing their membership pins. The donor's father was William Lewis born in England in 1869 and brought to London, Ontario, in 1870 where he lived the rest of his life. He and two brothers founded the firm of Lewis Bros., painters and decorators, which operated for many years in the city.
