Label TextThis is a 1930s Nestle-Le Mur permanent wave machine. Charles Nessler (1872-1951), also known as Charles Nestle, first patented the machine in 1909. It used water, chemicals, and heat to curl hair. Machines like this were expensive and required an expert to operate. Women had to go to salons to get the styles they wanted.
