Label TextDuring 1846-1847 the 81st Loyal Lincoln Volunteers were stationed in London, Ontario. Also known as the 81st Regiment of Foot, it was an infantry regiment of the British army. first established in 1793, raised in response to threats posed by the French Revolution. There was no money for the regiment, so it consisted mostly of volunteer militia members. The red jackets continue to be symbols of the British military, and internationally recognized.
